My son and I were talking about when a few years back he and his wife had their identify stolen. It was awful for them, a group was going around and stealing peoples identifies. The one thing about it was the police notified them that this group had been caught and here my son and his wife hadn't realized that their identify had been compromised. They proceeded to call their bank and found out there were numerous charges on their account that they had not authorized. It took about years before everything was straightened out on their account. The one thing is to make sure you look at your statements every month and if you see something that you know you didn't authorize go to your bank and inquire about it so you an set it straight. Identify Theft is not something you want to let slide.

I had something similar happen to me why i was checking my bank account online..money was disappearing before my eyes..then up came a 1800 number saying if this isn't me to call immediately..i did and they gave me back my money..But because it was bank fraud the FBI was involved and they came and took my laptop..of course when they gave it back to me i took it to a computer place and had them run the hard drive through to look for something the FBI might have put in there..was nothing..a few months later it got stolen..so i guess i wasn't meant to have it anymore..
I am so sorry your Son had to go through that..no one ever should.Glad it finally got cleared even though years later..
Now i refuse to have a bank account and do only cash....

Rosekitty, so you had a similar thing happen were you required to go to court, my son and his wife did not have to which they were glad about. Sorry after that you had your laptop stolen. They still do have a bank account but with a different bank.

@Marcyaz No i never went to court since i got my money back that day, but the FBI weren't answering me and i was wondering why?//..I mean wouldn't they know who took my money..it was going into another account and it had to be a real person..so I asked them why i was being questioned..and why not go after the person who did the crime??..still no answer..was almost like men in Black type silence..hahah..hence why i didn't care when the laptop got stolen..

It seems to be something rare here. What is more common is fake license plates with existing numbers, and they are a source of troubles for the official owner who receives the tickets, and has to pay them and then to go to Court
. If the vehicle with the same plates is in the same area, it can be difficult.

I have never had anything liket that happen to me and I am so glad, as I know the identity theft can be bad, and you just don't want to take it lightly. I would be worried more about the FBI putting things on my laptop, that I had not authorized or wanted. I guess thought, when it comes to the FBI they can do what they want and not ask for permission. I think that is totally wrong, but can't do anything to stop themI guess. Bythe way, I do havea bank account, which is fairly new, and no problems thus far, but then it is a credit uniion which I think are safer anyway.

@Unforgettable_Raja I hope it never happens, and one can only hope that the creidit union would be safer than a bank.

@Unforgettable_Raja parking tickets, speeding tickets... With cameras and radars everywhere here you can lose your driving license without being arrested by any cop

t becomes an ordeal when your personal partculars are compromised. One of my email accounts, was hacked recently, and I have a hell of a time telling everyone not to interact with that account.

? I am very careful with computer security but I think that the police would always manage to spy me if they would like to do it, so I prefer to trust them.
