Just wondering how you feel about Your Senator

I am wondering if the Senators up in Washington are really do the job they were voted in for like are they putting our needs first or their own. I know it seems like they are not doing their job because we are always seeing they are not for this or they are for that. Like Obamacare had been in the works so everyone could have health care here in the US like in other countries instead of people without health care having to file for bankruptcy because they are not able to pay the high cost of their care in the hospital.

Well, being English, I have no idea. I am not that trustful of any politician though.

HI Marcy. I think most people, no matter what their profession, are doing their best. Most, not all. So I feel the same way about senators, tho they are in politics and not many of us have faith in politicians. But there have been some wonderful senators that have done great things. Here is a list of the top 10 senators that have achieved some good things.
Those who make a difference in the U.S. Senate ? and five Senators who are falling short

Thanks for that information Ocean, there are some politicians who are doing good but there are others who aren't. One of the names that came up on the Time site was McCain from Arizona and I have to disagree with a lot of things he does and says. I have a friend who is a Disabled Veteran who ingested Agent Orange in VietNam he needs a lung transplant and McCain was supposed to help him achieve this but once contacted McCain has never again communicated with him. The veterans administration will not okay this surgery they say it is because of his age well he can't even eat without having to take a breath between each swallow. This is No Way to Treat a Combat Veteran who served his Country.

@Marcyaz Thank you for sharing this story of your friend Marcy. Isn't despicable and inhuman the way they are treated? See, this is where I have a real problem with here and health care. In England, I am nearly 100% that he would not be denied surgery. I could be wrong as things have changed with the National Health Service there. There is something to be said for the government giving free health care..yes that is soooo very wrong.

@TiarasOceanView He is such a nice person and a shame he is treated like that. I do keep in touch as we have a few mutual friends and like I said he is a really nice person. Hopefully our health care will be improved at some point in time.

A recent study from Princeton University shows that the will of the people and public opinion have almost zero impact on how our elected officials vote in Congress. They don't care what you think. They do as they wish, which is basically doing what their corporate donors tell them to do. We can see this in the passage of Obamacare - 70% of the American public were opposed and yet Congress passed it. Obviously, they don't give a rat's what any of us think.
I had no idea how bad things actually were until I saw one simple graph.

I do believe that most only do what they want and not what we the People want. Just look at the way they vote on issues and you will see it is true. As far as Obamacare I was glad it was passed as the American people need something like that way back when President Clinton tried to get something like it passed but it never went through.

@Marcyaz you would be in the 30% who were in favor of it. But if Congress can always do what they want and ignore the majority of us and what we want, then it isn't representative government. Passing any law that the majority are against is not representative government, it is authoritarian government. They should not be able to pass a law that a majority of the people that they represent oppose. That's something they need to learn, or we need to vote them out.

The senate and the congress are both worthless. Obama has nothing to do with it. As for the medical plan that was put into place, the republicans wanted most of whats in there. And they are the same people that are complaining about it now. The republicans do not want a united healthcare here in the united states. And the senate and congress are mostly republicans. So lots of the things that were passed by the president were to appease the republicans. And again they are the same ones complaining. They get what they want all the time but point the finger of blame over to the left side. They are the hypocrites.
