I am not a doctor and I don't pretend to be one

I could give all kinds of advice to some on here asking about medical issues. But, I am not a doctor, and most likely neither are you. If you are having a problem with a medication, talk to your doctor - if he won't listen, find a new doctor. If you have had a pain in your leg for 6 months, go see a doctor. If you lost 50 pounds for no reason, go see a doctor. If you don't think your medication is working, talk to your doctor. Sure, you can share your feeling on here, but don't depend on non medical people to give you the right answers. One of the worst things any of us can do it to look up information online and diagnose ourselves. That could lead to sure death. Unless you have a medical degree you aren't qualified to diagnose yourself or anyone else.

I go to the doctor whenever i feel something different in me . At least early on whatever i am feeling differently can be arrested by the doctor's check-up .

Well, I tend to differ with look up information online and diagnose ourselves part. For one, I am a person who has been reading all over internet and keep being hopeful. I agree, it takes a while to find out (or rather weed out) what is correct and what is fake, but then, definitely, Internet is a great tool. I am happy that I know more about my illness than most of the doctors around. Agreed, there are some diagnosis that definitely needs to be done and cannot be performed at home - like for instance, blood tests, colonoscopy, endoscopy but then, the results can be interpreted better at times on the internet. I am not a qualified doctor, but yes, I do read a lot of books - specially on Homeopathy and I trust myself more than many doctors who even dont know what to ask the patient or how to diagnose.

Since you already knew what you illness was, then reading about it is not what I was referring to. I don't think anyone is qualified to diagnose themselves.

@AbbyGreenhill Ah, I misinterpreted Never mind. When the illness started, it was 2000. The doctors here at my state treated me for ailments that they knew about - dysentery,, diarrhea, some even prescribed me tests and medications for piles, fissures and what not. In 2006 finally, when I was on a business/official trip to a different state and the conditions became severe, the doctors there took only 7 seconds to recommend me tests related to my illness. They also suggested me that as there is no known cure for it, I should keep reading about it on the internet - mostly medicine sites, and forums from US. That study and the ill-awareness of these doctors here, locally has made me more aware. Similarly, another doctor in 2010, misdiagnosed my gall stones. I later did ultrasound, and got it confirmed that I have gall stones and now I have been reading and more informed about it.

I agree with big issues go along to the medical people. However, in my case, I do educate myself regarding medications online.

I think anyone with a computer probably does the same thing.

I agree. Online diagnosis is a terrible idea. Imagine if one mistakenly thought that he had a serious disease by checking out his symptoms online, when its in fact something else. The only way to perform diagnosis is by visiting a doctor.

Absolutely, that's why they exist and get the big bucks. Granted, some docs are not the best, then you move on to another one.
