I am talking about setting goals and trying to reach there. I am at a stage in my life when I have set so many goals having reached some and some I have given up. Now I have to set cut off dates to let the goals sleep away. Where are you now?

It is hard to set goals, and eventually meet them, so I just don't set any. I just go about my day, and hope for the best, if I get done, what I set out to do, then great, but if I don't, then I will just keep trying.

@allknowing Very true, or else there is no point in setting goals in the first place !

Setting a goal is not bad but one must have a cut off time for them.

External forces play a vibrant role in fulfilling our goals and when they refuse to co-operate that is when one has to discard them.

@allknowing Planning is all about taking external elements into account.. you also make a provision for the things you can do nothing about.

@sofssu Let me give you an example. I was planning on setting up homes for seniors and had involved a builder but that builder had to leave the country because of some issues. Who could have thought he would do that. A good guy but circumstances were such he had no other alternative.

I feel like I can finally start setting real life goals. So much of the last eight years have been about helping my dad care for my mom, which I don't regret. But now, I feel like I can look into the future and set some goals that could be within reach.

To each their own. Yes. Setting goals gives meaning to one's life. I wish you the best in your efforts and success thereof. I have had goals set and saw to their successful reach.

I believe that as long as you are alive you have to have goals or else life become monotonous. I keep listing down all that I need to accomplish and each day I think of more goals..LOL, not that I am able to accomplish all of them but it is good to have them on my list !

No thank you. I have a spring in my step carrying out what my completed goals have lined up for me. They are a handful. To give you an example my goal was to design my own home and garden. I have done that and today that completed goal has lined up so many activities that I have no time to breathe.

@allknowing You know we did exactly that ! Bought an old house and garden , inspite of having other people advise us against i,t and then got it renovated and added on and spruced up the garden, am quite happy with the result !That is the picture of my garden and the pit has been dug for planting a coconut sapling !

@kiran8 When my husband bought me this property ever since then I have been designing, and designing and designing and finally when the time arrived I put my goal in place and today that goal having been reached I have enough on my hands that this goal has lined up for me.
