I stand more of a chance getting run over by a John Deere than a car....

I live in the boonies - and if you did a traffic study in my little county (and it is little) you would count more tractors on the roads than cars. We are in a farming community, but most of the farms are either cow farms or hay fields. So when it's time to bring in the hay we see tractors and nothing else on our road.
We had thought moving to a farming community we would have access to lots of little farm stands with all kinds of fresh veggies to pick from - not! The few fields of corn are horse corn and in two years we haven't seen anyone selling veggies. Oh well, it would have been nice.

@AbbyGreenhill another question! The other day I asked you what the boonies were, now I'd love to know the origin of the word, where does it come from? why boonies?

@valmnz I have no clue - the word has been around forever.

There are actually some in this county who live even more in the boonies than we do!

I don't think I could ever live in the city again.

The first time I saw one on the highway I thought I was seeing things.

In the 20 years that I've been here, I hardly ever noticed any tractors.
