The other day I found some dragon fruits on the supermarket shelf. They looked so beautiful and juicy that I decided to buy them. I am crazy about fruits and I need to trying out every fruit I see in the supermarket.
It turns out the dragon fruit wasn't a big deal after all. They were bland and had very little taste. I don't think I would buy them again.. not at that price though. They do look tempting.
I have tried Mangosteen, star fruit, rambutan etc., and I have loved them. One fruit I will never try is the durian.. I guess you know why.
Have you eaten any rare/exotic fruits recently? Is there some fruit you will never try?

I must agree that the dragon fruit's taste is bland . I have tasted one and don't want to buy when i see one . But for durian , we had it at my parents' house about three weeks ago. My nephews and nieces don't like it . But , me , one of my sister , father and mother so like it very much .
Sad , that we don't agree on the taste of durian though .

I don't really try exotic things. I know I can't try durian, because it's illegal to import it to the US. But even if you could, I am sure I wouldn't get past the smell. I do see other kinds of canned fruits in the imported foods aisle at the supermarket, but I am not terribly adventurous.

When I read your title, I was about to answer Dragon fruit till I read your whole post. Indeed, Dragon fruit looks so exotic. The first time I saw it, I could not believe it could be eaten because of its appearance and texture but its red color is so attractive. It is not cheap so I thought it must be really delicious but yes you are right... it is bland. It is not worth the price as far as the taste is concerned but it is very nutritious.

The answer is no. I tend to stick to the more common things. And since I said that, I haven't heard of a one you have mentioned.

@sofssu Not when it comes to food, I am a very very picky eater.
Oh no, is that like having you shove spam down my throat?? Hmmm will have to make sure I eat before getting to your place.

I think its great that you make it a goal to try exotic fruits. With the prices on fruits to be honest I am not as likely to try new fruit. I love melons, banana's, the dark red apples, seedless grapes, raspberries, blue berries, and kiwi. I'm sure there are more that I like but I can't think of it right now. Please keep trying new fruit and share your experience again.

@Butchcass4 I love fruits.. can't keep away from them.. lol Especially hen its mango season.. I have to eat all varieties available. Try lyches, rambotans, chicoos for starters.. You may like them. They are all sweeeeet and juicy.

@sofssu I don't even think our stores carry lyches, rambotans, or chicoos. What does each one look like? I'll pay more attention in the store next time I go and see if they may have any of them.

I believe the durian tastes great but the smell is too powerful I have heard. I feel squeamish around foods with strong smell.. I am sure that I cannot stomach a durian.
