What smells trigger a memory for you?
As autumn grows closer every day I look forward to the smell of wood smoke in the air.
We don't have a wood burning fireplace in our home, but we had one growing up.
The smell of wood smoke reminds me of childhood. I think of my dad, getting up early to build a fire because that was the only warmth we had. I remember laying close to the fire on a cold winter day, with a coloring book and crayons. Daddy laying on the sofa watching Star Trek or McGyver.
I miss the cozyness of a fire, but I LOVE the smell of wood smoke in the air on a crisp cold day.

I don't think I've ever smelled roasted chestnuts. The only thing I know about them is that they show up in a lot of Christmas songs.

@nonersays It's a good sweet smell, mixed to the smell of the wood smoke. Also the taste is wonderful.

On a summer night the smell of wood smoke doesn't make me feel as cozy. It does make me want to grab a bag of marshmallows though.
