Last summer my husband, one of our friends and I went on a short vacation in the southern part of Denmark. Our friend had an online girlfriend from Russia. They had been chatting for a long time and his girlfriend had told him that she wanted to visit him in Denmark.
Our friend booked a double room for them. He has promised to pick up her up at the airport, but the day before she was supposed to arrive she told him that she wasn't coming. Our friend had sent her the money for her ticket, and he was very sad and disappointed when he discovered that she wasn't coming. We went on vacation anyway, but our friend didn't enjoy the vacation much.
Our friend really wants to find a girlfriend, and he has tried many different things. He has participated in single parties and other events for singles and he has used online dating sites and social networking sites. Unfortunately he still hasn't found a girlfriend. I would love to help him because I know how much it means to him, but I am running out of suggestions. What would you suggest?

I met my husband on an online dating site. We happened to live close to each other. The first time we met in person is the first time we met. We met at a restaurant for coffee. I took a cab there so he would not see my car or anything that would help him find where I lived. I would not have shared a room with him on a vacation the first time I met him.
If I had chosen to travel to meet someone I would not have sent them any money. And I would have traveled to just meet them, not to consider them my boyfriend right off the bat.
I hope your friend is having better luck now.
