I just read an article about a girl who became a victim of identity theft. Another girl used her photos and her address and she also copied other things from her life. One day the victim met a man. She had never seen him before, but the man smiled and said hi. He called her a different name and he acted like he knew her very well. She told him that it was a misunderstanding and she said that she didn't know him, but then he showed her a photo of her and he told her and she had sent that photo to his cell phone. She was totally confused, it was a photo of her, but she knew that she didn't send it to him. Some time passed and then it happened again. People she didn't know contacted her and accused her of bad things that she didn't do. She started to wonder if she was mentally ill and did things that she didn't remember. One day she discovered the truth. She found out that a woman had stolen her identity. She contacted the woman via a text message and she told her that the identity theft had to stop. Later the victim received a phonecall from the girl's father and he told her that his daughter who stole her identity was overweight, lonely and very unhappy and that the internet was her only source of entertainment. Did you or anyone you know become a victim of identity theft? How would you react if it happened to you?
