Why invite me?

A girl I know from the shelter invited me to this event. Its basically showing guinea pigd and rabbits by breeders. Now I normally wouldnt even bother, nor even consider these type of shows as I don't ever want to buy from a breeder. I bought a ticket for me and another friend as she asked both of us to go. I mentioned something today about the day, and she goes oh I dont know if I will go as its my nieces birthday. Now you would obviously know this beforehand of inviting us and knowing we bought tickets. I am just annoyed now as I did buy tickets for us to go paint pottery and she keeps finding excuses of why she couldn't go.
