Does Your Husband, Wife, or Partner Share Cooking Responsibilities With You?

When I was away for a few days recently, I was asked how my husband would be getting on for meals. Had I prepared them for him before I left. Goodness me, the poor man would die of starvation if he waited for me to do that. When we married 44 years ago he taught me to cook. He's an excellent cook. All our married lives we've shared the cooking. He's not quite as active now, but still prepares a meal at least once a week. So, what about your other half? Do they like to cook?

Wow first of congrats on your 44 years!! I have been married for 13 years now and at first we just kinda did the order the Pizza and then I met his sisters and family and I remember he was the first one to cook for me and I learned a lot of Mexican food to cook through out the years. He is from Mexico and has 7 brothers and 6 sisters, l.o.l. And I was shocked when he first cooked for me it was so yummy! Wow. Now I cook for him every day except sometimes I will skip a Saturday and we just get a cheeseburger or something. He always helps me even when he is tired ;] He can make something out of nothing, it is so funny. He said sometimes when the fridge is full he doesn't know what to eat then when there is hardly noting he said I know what I can do. L.O.L. Anyway nice to meet you and hope yo are having a great day.

I like to bake... hubby loves to cook, so it's a good trade off!

I rather like the sound of that arrangement - though I hate baking. Hubby likes baking but he's no good at it

I do not cook, I can cook simple things yet I am not a good cook, if there is no cooking, then I can have a meal from restaurant 500 mts away from home.

One thing my husband can't do is to cook. He makes my coffee in the morning and sometimes cooks rice and that is about all he can do. He however helps me in the kitchen and with all the other work around the home.

Nobody helps me Val! Two days ago my niece with her boyfriend and his sister came for dinner. Believe me, no one asked if I needed a little help. At least they applauded me when they finished eating.

You're such a clever cook Anna that everyone is probably nervous of letting you down.

@valmnz Sometimes I see a head looking inside the kitchen, but they do not even ask "may I help you?". They are all spoiled kids.

In my opinion cooking responsibility should be shared. All family members should participate in cooking and all should dine together. These all brings a lot of happiness instead of putting full burden over any one member of the family. The single cooking person spends his/her full time in cooking, serving and cleaning etc and they cannot take care of their health properly. In our society mainly women are cooking, serving, cleaning etc and most of them may be working too. Household work, child care etc after a long tidious work in the day time makes women so weak. So members of the family should participate positively in household works

Haha, me and my boyfriend argue about who gets to cook! We both really love to cook and even argue about who is better. We have to share the kitchen fairly. We plan to start having cooking competitions between the two of us to see who can cook a particular dish better.

@valmnz I help my wife in cooking and also share the responsibilities. Whenever she feel sick and tired , I prepare dinner or breakfast for us . It is good to know cooking for both . Your Husband loves you much I think and cares about you .

Culinary skill are a necessity with today's home makers and bread winners.

Hi! I don't really cook, but I know a handful of dishes and how to cook them. I am not very fond of cooking but I am starting to learn though cause as they say, "a way to a man's heart is through his stomach." He knows a bit of cooking though. Because of our busy schedule at work, we often buy cooked meals, but it would help if we learn how to cook our own. He is very supportive and helps me out when I cook. He also does the dishes when I am in charge of the cooking, or sometimes, we take turns--he cooks I wash dishes.
