Hi Mylotters,
I'll start off by telling you a little bit about myself. I'm an English woman, retired, married for 50 years, one son, one daughter. You may consider me old, but I don't.
I've been quietly observing the site for a couple of weeks. I've read the Rules and @Owlwings excellent guide, and now I think I'm ready to put my toe in the water. I expect I'll soon get the hang of things.
I don't know if I'll fit into this site or not. From what I've seen it's just discussions, and I've been used to doing stand-alone articles, reminiscences, anecdotes and silly rhymes. I'll have to see if I can adapt.
You gave my friend @crazyhorseladycx such a warm welcome yesterday, that it's encouraged me to jump in myself. I'm delighted to see so many of my other friends here too,so I won't feel like a complete stranger.
A newbie I am at Mylot,
And any advice that you've got,
Please tell it to me
So that I can see
Just what I shoulld do - and what not....

I think you'll do alright here, as many others have said. It's odd. I thought I have replied to you already but it seems not. I think that I had it on screen but was called away and meant to come back later!
No, you're not old. Anyways, no older than me and I think I'm in the prime of life at the moment - at least, when I'm at the keyboard!
Well, you've read the short guide I have written

@jaboUK Maybe I should spend one day commenting entirely in verse - even only in Limericks! That would seriously restrict the length of what I usually write! 
Poetry (as long as it's your own) is not, as far as I know, against the rules here, as long as the post is so arranged to invite relevant discussion in some way.

@Owlwings Oh what a lovely way to welcome me with that great rhyme! I've read that poetry doesn't go down too well here, is that right? I suppose if I couched a question within a rhyme it might be ok?
And yes, of course we are in the prime of life - in our heads anyway

You will, @jabo , you will fit in! And I didn't realize @crazyhorselady was here too! Oh joy!! Just keep interacting here - just like you always do - but you may find longer conversations here - that's the part I love! It is a little weird here at first but keep playing and I know you will get the hang of it soon enough. Yay, yay, I'm so glad you are here!!!!

Mine went up as I commented and I haven't made any posts today - so definitely it has to do with the activity here! You know me, I never paid much attention to the stats and such. Mine is big because this was my former home a couple years back. Strange but good to be back!

I think you'll do fine here. It's a little different in focus, I guess - but, in social media, doesn't that depend on the group of people you're socializing with? So I see no problem with doing your own thing. Sorry things are so bad over there, but you will like it over here. Didn't know @crazyhorselday was now a member. The place is hopping.

I think jumping in was a wise choice. I think there is some flexibility as to how we want to use Mylot but you are right it is different than writing articles. Without interaction we earn nothing. I like that can easily skip about and still meet up with people or if we want settle in for a good read do that.

@Bluedoll We didn't actually earn for posting on the other site, so it's not much different in that regard. If no-one commented or liked you didn't earn, but I understand that the emphasis here is on interaction. I'm surprised that you can actually earn without writing anything yourself.

@jaboUK Isn't it a lovely surprise? I think it encourages everyone to get social because of it too. Win-win in every way! People have been losing their motivation at the other place - their efforts are not worth the time anymore, especially since the friends are packing up. I was fortunate to meet @Bluedoll here way back when

Hello Jabo, it's good to see you here, along with @crazyhorseladycx. MyLot Is as you observed quite different then bubblews but I think you could adapt to it, if you have a mind to do so. The key thing here is interaction, not so much about having discussions to post. Although, I think you could still turn your reminiscing into discussions if you wanted to.
Have a look around, meet some of the people and just have fun.

@LadyDuck One of the best things for me so far is meeting up with all my friends, like you Anna. I don't know if my style of writing will suit, and the poems may have to go on the back burner, but we'll see. I haven't left the other site, and don't intend to unless it goes under.

woohoo! ya done gone 'n done it now, aint'cha? so glad that'cha put on yer lil snorkel 'n jumped in, sweet friend. i fear i've not a lick 'f advice in regards to flyin' this thingy. 'least the folks here're most helpful 'n jest loaded with info they're more'n happy to share. the thingy 'bout yer writin' is it evokes a response - be it tales from yer youth, to yer travels to those adorable limericks that'cha do. i'm jest so darned excited that'cher here! big hugs 'n love from 'cross the pond!

@ JaboUK. I certainly don't consider you old .Thank you for doing for me just what you asked the others to do for you.:) I'll try out a rhyme later.
About rhymes, your rhymes brought back a lot of happy memories.In the days when we used to communicate by snail mail, my siblings and mom went through a phase where we would write our postcards in rhyme.
So, yet another thing to thank you for. Thank you.

@responsiveme Thanks for reading this, and yes I received a lot of help when I was new too.
About the rhymes - I'd never thought about trying them myself until National Poetry month was getting a lot of publicity on my old site (Bubblews). That was two years ago, and I had a go myself, and found I had a certain aptitude for it. I was 74 years old - better late than never.
You obviously have that aptitude yourself.

@jaboUK Thank you. My mother used to teach English in a college and the house was full of books all the time .She was always quoting in all types of situations.... I guess all of us, two brothers and myself were influenced by her.
I am glad you unearthed your aptitude for poetry.
It makes it a lot of fun for us MyLotters :)

@everwonderwhy I must say I've been pleasantly surprised at the reception some poems get - someone told me that they wouldn't go down well here. I thought I'd give them a go anyway, though of course a lot of mine are silly rhymes, not good stuff like yours.

@jaboUK I was just "quietly reviewing" myLotters. And you are one of the most interesting. And I'm quite a lover of poetry, myself. At the same time having fun tinkering with my treasury of rhymes here and there.

Good to see you here Janet. I think the short and sweet nature of discussions here may suit me now as I have very little spare time for sites. Bubbs seems a waste of time these days and last time I tried to use it was full of application errors. Short and speedy sounds good.

@thea09 Great to see your name! I don't know about it being short and speedy here - I just popped in to have a look before going elsewhere, and I've got caught up with responding to all of you kind enough to leave comments on my post. I haven't even started to look at anything else yet, but I'll get there.
Regarding the other place - I got one application error too many, and that's what drove me here. There has been no-one more loyal than me to that site, and I won't be leaving it, but I hope that they can get their act together. Lovely to see you Katerina.

Welcome to mylot. You will fit in, as you will find mylot a great place to be. There are people from all over the world in here, and everyone is so kind and hellpful as well. I will help those that need it. I also love the interaction that we do with each other, as that is the way we are payed. The more we interact with each other, the more we earm.You comment to someone, and they will comment back to you and so forth. That is the way to keep the discussion going and active.

@jaboUK That is great, as you will find that it is a lot of fun, not to mention that we all earn with the interaction. That is the key hee, that once someone comments to us, we comment back to them and so forth. I have discussions of mine, that just keep going and going, and I am so happy about that too.
