In California on the Marina State Beach in the Monterrey area one day Todd Endris is out doing some surfing close to the shore with several friends. He leads such a tough life, scheduling his work around good surfing times. He had been in the water about fifteen minutes when a shark lungs and pulls him down under the water shaking him back and forth. The shark rips at Todd's body, does a U-turn and comes back. People on the shore said it was huge.(they can be up to 22 feet long and this one is said to have been 14 feet long) It lunges at Todd slicing his back with its teeth., . A nearby school of dolphins, sensing the danger of the situation, rush in and form a protective ring around him. Circling and using tails slaps to try and frighten the shark away. A friend on shore calls 911. There is blood all over the water. The shark breaks through the ring at one point and attacks him a third time. He is gashed in the leg now and the Great White pulls him under the water thrashing him back and forth.and then planning to let him bleed out so he can be eaten as is their usual attack scenario. These hero dolphins are the only thing standing between him and the shark as the shark tries to drag him out to sea and eat him. The dolphins won't let him and continue to encircle him and keeps him from being lead away. He is pulled into shore and is found to have shoulder, back and leg lacerations He has 200 staples and 500 stitches. Lucky to be alive and if it weren't for those heroic and stubborn dolphins that wouldn't give up he surely would be. What a story, huh? And this is only one occurrence where dolphins have come to the rescue of surfers. It is so touching and makes me understand the empathy and feelings these mammals have.

Wow these dolphins are really heros. I had no idea they would go up against a shark like that, this man has the dolphins to thank that the shark didn't kill him.
