Great Bulk Prices at the Local Store

Since people like talking about shopping, I just got back from the store where there were great deals because of their 1 year reopening anniversary. All sorts of meats were on sale so I stocked up. Now my freezer is really full, when I thought it was full before. Too bad my hands were a mess after handling those meats and repackaging them into smaller freezer bags. Do you buy in bulk and repackage for easier handling when the prices drop?

Well after tonight I will have to get more freezer bags at the store the next time I'm there. I went right through them quickly.

if the store has a meat counter they will often do this for you, but if I shop at walmart I do the same thing, so gross, but so nice having all that meat in reserves!

I couldn't eat beef from walmart. It was so full of dyes and other chemicals that it tasted disgusting to me.

@Jessicalynnt The store locally has great meats because they come from local sources, and there are meat processing facilities in the area, so freshness is somewhat guaranteed here.

I do the best I can with what I can find Morgan. I do divide it up as you say, but we are always short of food.

I grow a garden in the summer time and it produces more than I can eat (although you get tired of the same thing over and over too). Except green beans, I love those.

Yes, it makes sense to do that. Did you know that @Kaushikg plagiarised your first post? I haven't checked to see if he's gone, but I reported him.

Oh I've just checked and he has deleted your post, or it's been deleted for him. If it was the latter you'd think they would delete the whole account.

I didn't know that it would be copied that quickly, or that it was worthy to copy to begin with. How odd. Thanks for the look out. You can tell how much I was paying attention. Silly person, that post was tailored to my user name too.

@OneOfMany Exactly, that's how I spotted it so easily. The post was personal to you.

We are actually talking about getting a freezer so that we can stock up on meats and such. Right now we don't have the room.

@OneOfMany My parents were like that too. Once a year they would go to their local butcher and get their meat during the time they ran specials. There was always meat in our freezer as well as veggies from the farmers market.

My parents have a freezer in their basement. It's also full, and they are stocked up for a while. I just have a normal refrigerator/freezer combo. But then again, I'm just one person.

@simone10 When I lived in an area with expensive and bad tasting meats, I would buy bulk from the store here and fill my freezer with it (they flash froze it for me so it would survive the journey back).

Sometimes, not always. I do like to stock up on a lot of things though.

I tend to run through a supply too fast if I don't have a nice stockpile of things. I used to stock up on soda when I drank it all the time. These days I do not.

@OneOfMany I'd probably stockpile more things if I have more pantry space, but for now I usually shop for things as and when needed.

I only purchase that I immediately need in the same week.I can tell you that some of the time it does go out of budget. I do find that making list most likely help I don't like freezing stuff though. That way saves my money.

Sticking to a budget one needs to go in shorter bursts. I always had to make a list, eat before I shopped, and refrain from buying what I didn't need. Now it's not that tight.

It's great as long as it's all stuff that is usable and you want. Fortunately most of this is.

I sometimes go to Cosco to get some bulk deals. It can really help save money.

@OneOfMany We don't have many options here in the UK which is a shame.

We have a BJs near here, and it's good for many things, but not meats as much as the local store.

I do from time to time, but in the end it's not that much of a savings because of the New York state sales tax. We don't have much of one in Pennsylvania, so buying things here tends to be cheaper.

buying in bulk is a good thing if you have the income to do it with might last longer
