This house was built when I was a year old. Earlier it was a joint family system but my father wanted his independence I am told and so he built this house in the property belonging to my mother. Being the only daughter that property was given to her by her brothers. My father designed this house and today one of our nieces is living there. That room that you see is where we girls studied. The boys had another room. Happy that it is not sold nor locked up as is common with ancestral homes Do you have your ancestral home?

This is a very pretty house. One of my uncle still lives in the house that my grandparents built almost 100 years ago.

Keeping it alive is a good thing and we have succeeded in doing that. and it seems you too have.

I have still a family house in the countryside where I spent a few holidays when I was a child. It was my grandparents house, but I don't go often there now.

We have a family house .. locked up for the last two years. Its is being repaired with collective funds so we can all use it when we feel like it.

No I don't have an ancestral home, though we have lived in the house we are in now for 42 years. We brought our children up in it, so perhaps this will be the ancestral home to them. Yours looks lovely.
