Another crisis

My day was going well. I had the truck loaded and everything, and then my daughter in law called.
She had to call the paramedics because she was sick. It turns out that she had high levels of carbon monoxide and so did the little girl she was watching. She could not get my son by phone, and she took all the animals out of the house, except one she could not locate. She did not have a chance to water them.
None of them are allowed back in until the house is aired out and the problem is located.
So I got in touch with my son, who was not answering his texts, and I went and got the three young kitties and hubby came and got the dog.
We had planned to go to Florence about now. Instead we are pet sitting.
I am glad that they are getting it taken care of though.

I am glad she realized it in time and was able to get everyone out! So you were able to locate the other animal? I'm so glad everyone is safe! Sorry your plans didn't go as expected but it's good that you were there for her when she needed you. How is she doing now?

No, there are actually four kitties. The smoke detector has a co detector built in and they were lethargic, and the alarm went off. How they are doing is a whole nother post. Health wise, okay, stress wise and home wise not. The other kitty was found safe after all the strange firemen, policemen, paramedics, gas company and code inspector left.

That happened to me about forty years ago. I was in an apartment that had a malfunctioning part. An invitation out is what caused me to be safe.

Oh that is very scary. She is so lucky that she realized she was sick and was able to get herself, the child and the animals out in time. Often, people (even professionals) do not realize what is happening until it is too late, and that is a very scary fact.
Does she have a carbon monoxide detector in the house?

Yes, the smoke detector has a built in carbon monoxide detector. It went off once last week but they thought it needed batteries. Today they knew better.

@GardenGerty There have been a couple of times when my smoke detector has gone off, and I have ignored it believing that it was a mistake. There was one time that it went off and I did smell something, though, so I checked for fire and realized that the dryer was starting to smoke.
I cut the power to the house and called the professionals. That was scary enough, and you can smell smoke. If my carbon monoxide detector went off, I think I would be out the door as quickly as possible.

They have more pets than I would like, but I love the compassion and care that she has for them.
