To E Read or not to E Read.

There are many types of E-Readers (Kindle for me), and each has things that people like or don't like about them. I will admit, I was against the concept at first, years ago. I like the feel of paper, I didn't want to stare at a lit screen (why I love kindle, they have ones without lights), it didn't "feel right". Hubby got me one for Christmas one year, and I didn't have the heart to tell him I didn't want one. So I got a book, or two...and.... well that was that. Here are my findings. 1. You save space. I used to have 600+ copies of books. They took up walls and walls of space. They were murder to pack and move, and finding things was a pain! No more am I shackled by walls of books. 2. Easier organization, no more hunting for a book, I can just search for it with a google like search tool. 3. No need for paper, I am all for saving paper when possible, leave those trees alone. 4. Cheaper- E books are almost always cheaper, even when they are brand new. 5. Instant gratification, I want that book, boom, now I can go read. No waiting for the library, or until I can get to town. 6. Samples and free books. Many places will let you read the first chapter or so for free, which allows you to get a good idea if you might like that book or not. There are also all kinds of free books. I rarely buy a book anymore. I get an email once a day from a place that compiles free books and then I go get as many of them as I want. See authors will often allow the first book to be given away in hopes that you will go buy the rest of the series, and sometimes I actually do! Yes, I still get a book in physical copy now and then, but it's super rare. I still miss the feeling of a book in my hands now and then but....not enough to give up all of the benefits of my E books. What about you? Where do you fall on this?

No E-reader for me. I am just a clunky old lady in love with books.

so many free books on amazon, and right now I broke down and did kindle unlimited, I read so much, it's cheaper as long as I only look for books there to read.

@Jessicalynnt sadly that isn't available in New Zealand. I've tried a few times, hoping they may have changed their minds. Silly really, when we all pay them in US$

I used to be, lol. I still have a few printed ones, like some graphic novels, or things with images, and a few older books that never got made into e books.

I have a Kindle also which I like but I still prefer a real book. I do like the instant gratification though with my Kindle and can download any book and yes, they are always cheaper

yeah, I still love that feeling of paper, the other stuff just outweighs that for me anymore. Plus that cheapness means I can afford MORE books, lol

I still like physical book,in the meanwhile,e-book is also important. In my opinion,I have a good classification, literature to physical book, such as gone with wind, net novel to e-book.

I've not used one but I do like the storage of how many books you can have on your Kindle. I think they are great if you are a reader.

there are good free book libraries for them and I have read quite a few works through them, including books by H G Wells, Zane Grey and Jack London though I prefer hard copy when possible.

They take the wonder of reading away. The moment you open your laptop or kindle device, the glare makes you feel like shutting it off. Not worth the trouble for voracious readers.

@Inlemay mwahahaha!!!! I love to read so much that it doesn't matter to me what format books are in, as long as I have access to many and they are cheap. I get 10-20 free a day, just from offers on Amazon and such, so it keeps me in books while being very cheap (as I buy a few a month).
