Saying good-bye to a good friend

This may sound silly to some of you, but I said good-bye to summer. I am a summer person, I always have been since I was a kid. Maybe it has something to do with being a 'Leo', I don't know. I need sunshine and warmth and without it I change moods...if you don't believe me just ask my husband! Now summer is 'officially' over and I had my last summer dip in the pool yesterday evening. If I get in the pool today it will be my first fall dip in the pool! I don't like cold, snow, ice, sleet, wind, or anything resembling winter including winter coats. Winter clothes make me feel like I'm closed in. What's more uncomfortable than putting on a winter coat and then entering a store where they have the heat set at 90 degrees and you have to take off the coat and carry it around with you. In our 14 years living in the south we have only had two cold winters. For many years I never put on a coat until late December. Last winter was awful and those people who predict things are saying this winter will be just a bad. No no no!!! We don't get much snow in my neck of the woods but last year our neighbor dug out our driveway after a six inch snow fall. If he had just waited a few hours it all melted anyway.

I have lived for 30 years in the south of France, for all those years I forgot what a coat was, at most I put on a heavy jacket during the coldest month of the year, that always was February. I am not a Summer person, I hate the too hot weather. This is my favorite season, the colors, the temperature, even some fruits of autumn months are my favorite.

If it stayed this temp. (low to mid 80's) all year round I could take that. I rather run the A/C then the heat. We all have our favorite and for different reasons.

@AbbyGreenhill We do not even have A/C, hot temperatures here last for a couple of weeks. This year it was too hot and the lack of A/C has been a problem for the first time in my life.

I am used to cold winters so I always make the most of summer. Fall is here but we are promised many more sunny days before it gets really cold and that suits me just fine

Right on - more sunny days! I hope we both get them!

We had more than 100 inches of snow last year and it's predicted to be the same or worse. I don't really mind if I don't have to go anywhere.

That makes me cold just thinking about it. I think Boston had 100 feet didn't they? LOL!

I am glad that summer is over, but I am not looking forward to winter either, as I hope we don't get a lot of snow and ice. Where I live in Oregon, we don't get that much snow. It does come in spurts though, as when we get snow, we really get several inches. Last year, we were snowed in for a week, which meant I never got out in the snow, as I am just not sure about driving in it. Once it warmed up, and started melting, I got out and did what I needed to do, like groceries, and other errands. I just hope we don't get a lot this year.

people here think about snow, winter and cold countries, but it never crossed my mind. my first thought has always been how cumbersome it is to wear layers of clothing, plus hats, scarves, gloves and boots before heading out the door, carrying them around and not losing them, then taking them all off when you get home.

Oh it is cumbersome for sure. We don't even own boots any longer and I don't think i've used gloves, and I own a light-weight winter coat - plus one heavy duty one just in case.

lol you might like Texas. It was cool this morning (aka low 80s) and I hope it lasts, but I am sure in an hour or so it will start really warming up.
