A Case of Nerves

I have committed to giving The Man a hair cut this afternoon. If it turns out badly, it will be my fault. He's had his hair really long for several years now, and I like it that way, but it's time for a change. Besides, sometimes hair can be too long to take care of well. For many years, I was the only hairdresser anyone in this house had services from. Now that The Girl has become a licensed hairstylist, she does The Boy's hair and mine, but she's all trendy and The Man is old school. Truthfully, I would like to update his look just a bit. I think it's time to leave the hippie fashions and styles behind. Let's face it, the sixties are so over, man. So last century. I have to give him an old school haircut that looks not so old school. And he has to like it. So, send me your good wishes and positive vibes to help me not to screw this up.

oh dear, i hope it turns out well fer ya both. i cut the hubs hair 'n threaten 'im within inches 'f his life 's he continues to tell me 'how to do it'. like i've fergotten in the past 30 odd years? the good thingy 'bout it, if'n yer fella don't like it - it'll grow out. my eldest son embraces the hippy stage. in fact, whilst loadin' up a truck outside a residence he was workin' on last winter - a fella stopped 'n asked 'im if'n he needed a ride to a shelter. long hair, long beard 'n tattered work jacket. i laughed, he didn't think it so funny.

I don't mind the long hair, but we are both at the age where hair randomly sheds. Actually, I think we both have been shedders all our lives. It's just time to stop all those long hairs from clogging up the vacuum.

Anja, tomorrow is the day I have to give an old style haircut to hubby. I cut his hair from 1999, I can do this my eyes closed, but it's better I keep them wide open.

If you don't keep them wide open, you might cut off an ear,

It came out alright, but I didn't cut it short enough because... well, it was VERY long to start with. So, once he gets used to it, I will cut it again.

@Rollo1 Bravo, I am sure my husband as much as he loves me will never let me touch his hair with a pair of scissors. .

I've never attempted cutting anyone's hair. Last time my husband attempted to cut my son's hair it didn't turn out very pretty haha so we decided we'd leave it to the experts. Real experts.

The only time we had a bad hair cut is when my son cut his own hair when he was about 6. That was a bad hair cut.

I came out fine, but it will need another trim soon because it's still a little long.

It is far more 'in' vogue to have very short cropped hair rather than long hair.

I don't mind short hair, just not convict short. Some of those bald fades are just like prison haircuts.

I don't envy you that job. I once cut my daughter's hair (when she was a child), and I only meant to trim it. The trouble was that one side kept looking shorter than the other, so I'd cut the other side to match, and so it went on. She ended up pretty shorn!

That's easy to do. And if you're going to have a bad haircut, best to have it when you're young.
