Animal abuse, why do they do it?

September 27, 2015 9:20pm CST
Question...tell me your opinion on the continuous blatant abuse of animals? It is unreal! And seems to be becoming more and more 'the thing' to do! Why do you think people do it?

Animals should be love and taken care of and not to be abuse.

Exactly Carl Intal.....they give us unconditional love. Why would anyone hurt one? I just don't understand. (and thank you so much for responding)

We bought a small burro- donkey. Cutest little guy on the planet. Peter burro is very gentle. I found out right away that the minute I raised my arm he would flinch. The farrier- lady who trims his hoofs- can't raise her tools very high or Peter tries to take off. My husband's cane freaks Peter pretty badly. I sure would love to do something to the person that Peter tries to tell me about. I can not imagine being mean to this little pasture pet. He can be stubborn and pushy but that is no reason to be nasty to him.

@happytails You are spot on having to be a coward if you're going to hurt a silly guy like our Peter.

@sallypup It never ceases to amaze me how people are. The ones that abuse animals and children are cowards. They pick on something that can't fight back. How they derive pleasure from this is beyond me.

I have noticed this trend also and can't figure out why. I do wonder if it hasn't always been going on but with the internet and camera phones to catch people it is now more available for people to see. I also think that because of animal activist, they make it more well known. Celebrities being involved also helps to get the word around.

@happytails If I had the opportunity, I would do to them what they did to the animals. And I would smile while doing so. Talk about an Avenger, I'd be it.

this is what I ask myself every time I see a case of animal abuse. I don't know how some people have the heart to do this

It's so crazy. Animals are so loving, unconditionally. Why would you harm them? The biggest reason I believe is it's a way to express power....power over something that can't fight back....man, what kind of power is that? Thanks @swissheart for responding and I apologize for taking so long to respond.

Humans have become sick, disgusting idiots @happytails . When I was a Director of the animal shelter that was on my property, I ran into a lot of them. Before I would adopt out an animal, the 'humans' were interrogated and if they didn't answer correctly, they were told to leave.

Ditto! You have to be so careful! Our adoption policies with most rescues here are very stringent, as they should be. Thank you @nanette64 for responding and I apologize for taking so long to get back to you!
