No Blood On My Moon!

The sky was unusually clear, at around 4.40am, so although, it was my usual time of rising, no extra effort required, the heralded eclipse, was already happening. But there was nothing "Bloody" about it...just a supersize yellow ball, bearing a beautifully outlined shadow of Earth, across it's lower regions...so bright, it was more like an early sunrise, that lit up the road, and cancelled out the streetlights, effectively... but nowhere, could I see even a 'bloody streak, to demonstrate a Blood moon, so I was a little disappointed, obviously, it's 'bleeding' display was happening elsewhere, and not for my lowly eyes. Our area angle of refraction, must have been turned the wrong way, to create such a spectacle...but been there, done that, even if the 'fire and brimstone' didn't happen for me!

I suspect we are in the wrong place for seeing any of this as it wasn't on the local Indian television news. If it were happening at that time in the UK, the moon would already have gone to bed over here.

@bookbar I'm on holiday in India. Northampton is still where it should be.

I never got round to watching it because I simply went to bed and forgot. This is no real loss to me because I may not have been able to see it anyway. My eyesight is not good and even during perigee the moon is over 225000 miles away.

@bookbar The size did not help me much since I was asleep at the time.

You possibly wouldn't have needed a telescope for this huge, bright monster, that virtually filled the bedroom window, even if it was the wrong colour, but So bright, you did need to squint a little, or find sunglasses in the dark....

I unfortunately couldn't see it. We had major clouds where I am so it was a waste of time to try and find any signs of it. It would have been cool to see again.

It wasn't red here either. I've only seen the red in photos.

The moon was a brilliant white colour for me here too! I was really disappointed

It was definitely a rusty, pinkish brown or brownish pink. One of those. By the time it was that color though, it was quite high and didn't look very big at all.

The sky was clear all the afternoon, but around 7 pm large clouds have covered everything, I have missed the blood moon and I have missed the eclipse. My usual luck.

I don't think every part of the world gets the same effect. But, I see from other comments that one needs a powerful telescope in order to see it. It was cloudy here, and I wasn't up anyway.
