In an effort to pay off a debt,,owed by her congregation in Mexico.a Nun has taken to the Master Chef airwaves...Sister Florinda Ruiz is taking part in the programme, being shown for the first time in Mexico, this year. Sister Flor - as she's become known - hopes the money will solve the order's immediate financial difficulties. even though the debts accumulated by the Order amount to 7m pesos, and even were she to walk away with the top prize...it would only make a 1m peso dent in the debts incurred from a school project. Not the first Nun to appear on reality television, Sister Cristina Scuccia won Italy's version of The Voice talent show, last year, and went on to release a cover of Madonna's Like a Virgin as her debut single. Wonder what the Pope thinks of his 'new world order'? source:bbc.co.uk

A Master Chef Nun I have spent eight years in a Catholic school run by nuns, they cooked our lunch meals. The worst food I have ever had in my life.

@bookbar Hahaha, they overcooked the pasta so with one serving they served 5 people, the sauce was watery (of course 90% of the ingredients was water). As soon as I had the opportunity I asked my father to change school.

Hahaha...Frugal with ingredients, I assume...won't go down well on Master Chef, but maybe she may get moments of Divine Intervention and inspiration, to help pay the bills....I need some of those!

They have two separate kitchens one for the borders and the other for themselve where exotic cooking goes on. Straight from the horses mouth and the mouth is one of our maids who came from there,. She cooked for us fantastic food all learnt there.

I hope that she is allowed to choose what she prepares for the Master Chef. If she is asked to create whatever the show imposes then she may end up making Deviled Eggs.

@Asylum Well they must have been tasting their selections to be able to make them into such delicious beverages...not exactly frugality in the 'cloisters'...

Well, good luck to her. It's a little less cloistered a life these days. But perhaps that's a good thing.

Well even if she wins, she has a steep hill of debt to climb afterwards, unless she has another Reality show up her Habit1

Practically everything that lay people are involved with we find nuns and priests being there. I do not like it at all.

@bookbar There is more to it than meets the eye. They are all worldly creatures now unlike the nuns under whom I was trained.

@allknowing Can't imagine any other 'business' being allowed to overspend by that much...so how have they managed it............ @marlina A good question...they must have one helluva 'line of credit' to get away with it, we could all do some 'good work' with such funding.

The pope? That money is owed to the pope. Think of the catholic religion as a mafia family. All the money goes up to the top dog. and that top dog is the pope. These nuns are on the so called street trying to be good earners for the boss.

@bookbar The above is the Vatican. No, the top of the pyramid never helps out their lower end people.

Pope Francis seems like a pretty cool guy. He probably wouldn't mind.

He does seem a little more in touch with the Real world than most of his predecessors, I must say...

Pope Francis's thoughts should be weighed put all together and not in isolation.. I like his thoughts This pope has said that the Vatican Bureaucracy is suffering from spiritual Alzheimers
In Christmas greeting, Francis issues a blistering critique of the bureaucracy that serves him.
