What would happen if a neighboring country nuke India?

Nowadays, a particular neighboring country threatens, time and again, directly and indirectly, to nuke India.
In this context, I have been thinking what would happen if any country nukes India. India has already announced 'no first-use' policy in respect of nuclear weapons. The same policy has clearly stated that 'the retribution would be brutal and total'.
India has been strengthening its 'second-strike' capability for some time now. If that particular country dares to nuke any city of India, the country would be forced to take the time-machine to go back to stone-age.

Are they nuts? If they do it to us, others will do it to them. And then some more others will do it to these others. And then human race will be extinct because we would be completely covered by nuclear material that will not allow anybody surviving to use anything for the next 200 odd years.

@vandana7 Not others, we would do this to them. Second-strike capability with missiles, aircraft-careers, nuclear subs and modern aircraft are systematically being developed for this purpose. Moreover, to stop unprovoked first strike from any enemy country, KALI is being developed. It may take another 10 years for initial installation of KALI.
