Woohoo, three more girls on the way! / myLot

I am a big fan of hens, and we previously had 3 re-homed ex-battery hens. Sadly one of them suffered major organ failure and died suddenly a month or so ago. The re-homing charity (British Hen Welfare Trust) arranges to collect hens from commercial farmers once they reach the end of their ‘economically viable’ lives at one year or so, and they pass these hens on to people who would like a few chickens happily scratching around in their garden. The collections happen about once a month, the next one local to me is tomorrow and I have just arranged at the last minute to collect 3 new ‘girls’ tomorrow lunch time. Woohoo! I’m quite excited about this, I’ll let you know how they get on!

So do I! I've been offered some temporary accommodation for them so I can keep them separate at first and give them time to get used to each other.

@Fleura Yes I've heard that they can be territorial, and aggressive to newcomers.

I remember Platespinner told horrific tales of what established hens can do to new ones. I hope it all works out and they manage to blend into the chicken community.
