Dog containment

I've been planning to build a new dog containment for my dogs. I have the fencing, and the poles, but after some consideration thought it was better to use a carport to build the dog pen. I figured it would be easier and provide more stability. Plus there would be a cover atop the containment. I am curious if anyone has ever accomplished this. If you have, what was your experience? Did you find it easy to build or difficult? If you haven't used a carport, would you consider trying it? I am hoping to get a carport soon in the future and to build the containment with help I can gain. I am looking forward to it.

:) I do! And someday when I have the funds, I'm going to do it. For now, I'm going to settle on additional containment at a lower cost.

Around here a roofed car port costs around 7 to 8 hundred dollars. A pretty good sized outdoor dog kennel is more in the 2 to 500 dollar range. I'd go with the cheaper kennel if I were you. My husband has built fences and donkey sheds and hen coops but not a dog kennel. Good luck!

This is true. I know some of them around where I live are anywhere between 500 and up. I have escape artists, but I have managed to make their containment inescapable. I would love to increase the size of their containment, but due to lack of funds, I am going with your suggestion.

@sallypup My lab mix does that. My shepherd mix literally rips the chain links apart. She once destroyed her dog pen, and nearly destroyed the current one. Spent a lot of time repairing it. She's such a brat.

@Firestorm0122 Our biggest dog has at times managed to skinny under our wire fences. The rascal.
