That is true. Young children can help around the house, but not work in commercial entity. I think the kitchen of fast food chain is quite a dangerous place for young children, but teens are old enough to take care of themselves, and to receive instruction.

If taht is the sole purpose, I do not see anything wrong with that.

That are laws here that kids can't start working until 14 at the youngest, and even then there are restrictions on how many hours they can work.
Most places won't hire kids until they're 16. Then at 16 they can work at fast food places or grocery stores.
I think it's good for the kids to have a job because even though their parents are wealthy they'll have to make their own way after college and a job not only gives them work experience but also helps them earn things for themselves.

I think that kids should have chores that they are responsible for and age appropriate jobs to do at home or in the neighborhood.

@scheng1 ....If they are that old they should have jobs outside the home. But younger it should be around the house to learn what is expected.

I would not "make" a child work. But if the child wants to work and finds a suitable job, I would be happy.

I guess indeed children should be taught the value of money. This will help them to become good adults
