A Man Of His Word Doesn’t Need To Say The Word

When anyone includes telling me how much I can trust him, that he has a reputation for honesty, that his word is his bond, swears on the grave of his mother and / or tells me that his word is his bond I know he is a liar, thief, con-merchant and swindler. You are not going to hear a salesman say, ‘nothing I say is true, don’t trust a single word or promise I offer you. I’ll swear on my Mum’s grave even though she’s either still alive, buried at sea or cremated. I am a man of my word but my word is scumbag'. Truly honest people don’t need to state their honesty. Obviously no one is going to tell you he is a liar who is going to run off with the money you invest with him. If asked are you honest, yes or no? Both the honest and dishonest answer giver are going to say yes. Arthur Chappell

That's true. If anyone says "I am not a bad person," I know they are bad in some way. I experienced it first hand and it sucks to be fooled by those people. But since karma is now "digital" I know they will get what they deserve, and fast!

Same here. When others say "trust me", I immediate start to distrust him. I trust factual information, and not flowery words or empty words.

Just by over emphasizing they give themselves away. Honest people state facts and move on.

You are right, honest men do not need to swear, I do not trust those who every two words say, believe me, I am honest.

I am a man of my word but my word is scumbag' That one made me giggle, and you have a point. It's one thing for someone to comment on honestly once, maybe, but the whole "me doth think he protesth too much" comes to mind.

I have always considered this to be true. If I say that I intend to do something or that I will keep a secret and the person them asks me to promise, I usually respond that I have already said that I would.
