Will you advise your relatives when you see them do foolish things?

My uncle and aunt did something very foolish a few years ago. They retired from full time jobs, and they canceled their life insurance that had critical illness riders. They had serviced the insurance policies for more than 20 years, and the policies were profitable. It is not that they need money. They are quite well off, and they can afford overseas trips every year. Now they do not have any insurance coverage, and they are too old to buy insurance.

No, no insurance company will accept them now. Firstly, their health condition changes. Secondly, they are above 70 years old. Insurance company usually stops taking in coverage for those above 65 years old. It is just stupidity on their part.

I don't. These days I am more of consulting on social media instead of relatives. I find social media more comfortable. And that is how I have avoided constant nagging of the people in social areas.

Ya, my relatives do not accept advise too. They think they are smarter because they are older. They do not realize how stupid they are to cancel insurance that they had paid for 20 years. They could have stopped paying, and still enjoy the protection.

@scheng1 Most of the relatives want their own kids to succeed over me. and they are often jealous so it is better not to try something like that.

Well, I'm not much fond in giving advise unless I am asked about it, but, I think that, it the issue comes out in a converstation I would certainly give my opinion.

Come to think of it, they did consult me on a few things, and I have always given honest and fair advice even though they have been inconsiderate and insensitive. As I see it, my fairness and sane advice because of which they gained should pinch them every time they think of it.
