My Mom gets her toe nails trimmed once a month by a lady at the Senior Center. Folks that get into their nineties often need help with their toenails cause it is hard to really care for your feet then- imagine bending over to really clean those tootsies when your body is so old. The lady seems nice enough and seems quite competent at soaking and caring for Mom's feet. The lady also helps out at the local school's cafeteria. She told us that she used to have a beauty shop when she was younger. She also matter of factly said that she had taken care of folk's hair dos- in a funeral parlor. I am not sure that fact registered in Mom's brain. Now I sit here and wonder what working on a cadaver would be like. What would it be like to be in the morgue? Cold? Very sterile for sure. Colorless? Green walls? Quiet or maybe someone would blare a radio? Windowless?

I think that we can become used to such things, or at least some people can. It would make me sad every day, but I think I could do it.

I just couldn't work at a morgue. But glad that some people do.
