A Sign Of The Times

Being of a certain vintage I recall when fights between rival groups of youths was fairly commonplace in towns and cities across the UK. The aftermath of these incidents would usually find the battleground littered with some of the weapons that were used during the fracas. Fast-forward, if you will, to the present day and the scene of a pitched battle consisting of some 200 youths which took place in Walthamstow in London. A poignant photograph of the aftermath adorns many of the news websites, showing not the discarded flick-knives and bicycle chains of yesteryear but rather a more modern representation of disaffected youth. Ripped out hair extensions!! "Come near me copper and I'll give you a cut and blow dry you slag!! Did you go anywhere nice for your holidays?"

Ah, the youth of today. Can't manage a good dust-up because they're too busy making selfies

I think the threat of a cut and blow dry would scare me more than a knife.

There's nothing worse than having someone mess with your hair style.

not sure if I'd like either kind of fight - had to get through the middle of a full scale riot in Manchester a few years back which was terrifying. I'm bald though so no hair extensions to grab.

I can understand that the idea of a cut and a blow can scare many of those groups.

From the sound of it the heat from the hair dryer would melt the glue holding their hair extensions in!!!

I am grateful that we do not have such events in my little country town.
