Being of a certain vintage I recall when fights between rival groups of youths was fairly commonplace in towns and cities across the UK. The aftermath of these incidents would usually find the battleground littered with some of the weapons that were used during the fracas.
Fast-forward, if you will, to the present day and the scene of a pitched battle consisting of some 200 youths which took place in Walthamstow in London. A poignant photograph of the aftermath adorns many of the news websites, showing not the discarded flick-knives and bicycle chains of yesteryear but rather a more modern representation of disaffected youth.
Ripped out hair extensions!!

not sure if I'd like either kind of fight - had to get through the middle of a full scale riot in Manchester a few years back which was terrifying. I'm bald though so no hair extensions to grab.

I am grateful that we do not have such events in my little country town.
