I Could Save the World

...but people would definitely stop me. Why? They have their reasons. The Powers That Be have their own plan. People of religions want the world to fail, because they all want their end to come true. The oil companies want their power to stay with them. Politicians and world leaders don't want their thrones challenged. Others appreciate the destruction, and saving the world would deny them that pleasure. I could still save this world even with this resistance, but it would mean becoming the worse person this world has ever known. Although the future may be happy for it, no one within the span of 20 generations would forgive me. That's a lot of heat to take. So yeah, I could save the world... but no one wants me to save it. So why bother?

So true, all those you mention do not want that someone (YOU) save the world, because they only make money this way.

@OneOfMany I wonder how many great projects and patents are bought by the big companies and destroyed to stop competition.

There was a car sold in my area before I was born, possibly 40 years ago that used virtually no gas for an entire week of use. The company can back to reclaim it, stating that it was released on accident and that they would compensate the owner several times over to get it back. He wanted to keep it, but they said that no one would maintenance it and this was a one time deal. So that was in the 70s, that a car with exceptional efficiency was out in the public on accident. Just imagine what impact a car like that would have on the world. Oil companies would be ruined.

@LadyDuck There are wonderful things that can be done. Even electric cars have huge potential. The EV1 was supposed to get a battery that would extend its range by 3 times, but Chevron bought up the patents and locked it away. So that battery technology was essentially sealed by the oil companies.

Actually, yes. Through technology and improvements to the world, I would preserve a future for generations to come. I'm not out to save souls for the next world, just the home of everyone alive.

@OneOfMany And how exactly do you think you can do it? Maybe you should explain a bit. They powers that be as you say are looking at what's in it for me.. I agree.

@sofssu Get people on a path towards proper water management and start lowering the oceans to prevent the destruction caused by sea level rise. The creation of next generation electric cars that require less charging between trips without large costs. Sustainable practices that create more food and energy. A new system of government that deals with populations in a way current ones do not. New approaches to laws to keep the unruly civilians in control and less likely to resort to certain levels of violence, among other things. Of course, the way to do this if people didn't go along with it wouldn't be pretty, so I won't mention that part. But most of the above people would accept as positive... just not the powers that be.

Is transporting Earthlings to Mars part of the plan?

No, the plan is to keep people here, unless they want to go to Mars!
