Okay, sadly I saw the movie before I read the book. The movie is good. The acting is fantastic and they didn't change enough to make me angry. However they left a lot out. It's little details but I think those little details really help you to understand the story more. So anyways on to what this is about. The story centers around sixteen year old Katniss. Katniss lives with her mother and sister Primrose in district twelve of Panem (formerly North America). Years ago the thirteen districts tried to rebel against the capitol(government). As punishment the thirteenth district was destroyed and a law was passed that the remaining twelve would be forced to participate in the hunger games, a televised fight to the death involving children ages twelve to eighteen. It is Primrose who is chosen as female tribute ,but Katniss quickly volunteers to take her place. I think this is one of the best book in young adult fiction I have ever read. Katniss is such as strong and realistic character. I'm really glad the author decided to tell the story from her point of view.
