Do You Have the Guts to Start an Online Petition?

I had to stop myself. Really. I got an email from Change.org and it asked me, "What petition would you start today?" That took me by surprise. I didn't want to do anything drastic for I know if I did I would think of something. And I did. Let's say I am a coward because I do not think I would ever be prepared with the backlash I would be getting from what I thought of. I could not push through with the only petition that came to mind: The exile of the entire Marcos family and extended families from the Philippines. (That's as far as I could think of) Okay let's say as a Filipino I should move on and work towards continuing to help improve my country but did the Jews forget what the Nazis did to them? Did the South Koreans forget what the Japanese did to them? Why should Filipinos forget the ill gotten wealth, the salvages/murders and everything bad that happened then? If the Marcos family are so rich why do they not pay off the entire Philippine debt so it'll be quits? But then again there are conspiracies going around saying it was America who manipulated everything to put a stop to Marcos because of fear the Philippines would become the next super power or something. Really? I find that funny. Only God knows what really happened but I still wish I could kick out all the Marcoses from our country. Wonder which puppet would start moving in behalf of the Marcoses if that happened. By the way if I suddenly disappear from the face of the Earth... this post would be the reason why. I am 100% sure. So how about you, what online petition would you start if you had the guts to do it?

WHo was misguided enough to think that was true about America. It makes me think they have no idea what goes on with the rest of the world. You are right; that is funny. I've never thought about starting an actual petition.

There are a lot of "stupid" people here (and maybe abroad too) who think it. Misguided is the right word, and also ignorant of the facts. Or perhaps they choose to turn a blind eye over what the Marcoses really are.

@AmbiePam Ugh, I hate those kinds of people. I'd prefer to talk with myLot buddies than those close minded loyalists.

Interesting question. There are so many things I'd like to see happening to make the world a better place but I guess I'll have to take some time to think which one would be worth making a petition for.

Yeah i spent a few minutes before that first thought hit me. And boy did it hit me hard. Good thing I exited out of the email before my fingers would itch to start that petition. There are so many issues in the world and our country and that was the first thing that came to mind. I wonder what yours would be.

@owstalaga I'd definitely start with something that's related to my local community, first. I'd love to "change the world" but I guess it's better to start with something small but doable.

@cahaya1983 Agree. Now you made me want to think of a smaller petition that I could do easier than my ultimate petition.

So you want the Marcoses out! I wish that will happen. I wonder why they still get elected inspite of what they did to the Philippines.

Lots of stupid and ignorant voters. Lots of blind loyalists. God only knows why they do not know how horrible the Marcoses were. Perhaps because they never experienced anything bad that they are blind to the clamoring people. The intellectual people aren't voting plus they are outnumbered by the less educated. It just sucks to think about it.

@owstalaga you are right. I am worried that the youth of today did not really know the history of the Marcoses that even in Facebook, they are trying to make it look that life was better during the Marcos era. Oh hell, if only they know how many people they killed and abused and how they practically ransacked the money of the Filipino people.

I would take the time to think about this for a moment. For sure it would be something related to the place where I live. We dreamed to change the world in the sixties, but those times are gone.

Oh maybe if you dreamed it in the sixties, you can have it done today.

i'd need to sit down 'n do some serious thinkin' 'bout such. one needs the energy 'n focus to push such a thingy 'n i seem to lack that sort'a gumption these days.

Yes I don't think I have enough energy and courage to do such. Unless I know I'd be gone tomorrow maybe I'll start the petition. Cyberbullying is a scary thing.

I could start 20 per day. But I am torn between starting petitions or just allowing everyone to do as they wish. Maybe we could start a petition that required people to think before they act.

Oh wow 20 petitions per day! Boy you got a lot of ideas. Yep it's better to think before we act. Also one reason I didn't go through with what I thought of.

I feel any petition would be worth starting as long as it had a purpose behind it. Just make sure you do your research and can reach the most people possible to sign this for you. Good luck on this one.

That's another thing why I don't want to start it, I don't have all the facts to make the petition stand on it's own. Oh well...
