audio book sound effects

Due to my hubby's sight issues I'm exposed to more audio books than perhaps the average reader. (I'm not finding time lately to really sit down and concentrate on a novel lately. I find that appalling.) Hubby has been seeking out kiddo Halloween books lately. We listen to some rather hilarious stuff for a few minutes in the evening- our Leah pup is in her kennel bed and Mom has gone to bed. We get a few minutes of just us time. Sometimes the books are almost oral plays. The reader's voices bring the books alive. We soak it in before I give in and go to bed. He needs less sleep than I do- 5:45 comes awfully soon!

I LOVE audiobooks! They make wonderful travel companions on a long trip, too.

Audio kiddo books are fantastic for car trips cause they last just a few hours. We listened to one that featured a spooky personage outside a person's windows. Kept me from thinking about snarly traffic.

I haven't actually listened to much audio books. I feel like the voices are too weird. I prefer reading on my own. I like that they have audio book options though. It's helpful to a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to read.

I listen to audio readings and radio plays a lot and I have had one of my own broadcasted too. There are websites with classic radio plays on them which you can download for free. I recently listened to the famous Orson Welles War Of The Worlds broadcast from the 1930's which led many Americans to panic thinking the Martians were really invading the US. It is a very good play.

I love your suggestions. I should look into computer downloads. I do need to find some speakers, though. My computer has horrid sound output.

Many audio books sound robotic. And that is something I don't like at all. Id rather have human speak that.

Listening to a book before bed seems like the ideal way to fall asleep. Sweet dreams
