How to earn money as an author?

Dear friends, I am a poet. I have a poetry book published too. But till.now i have just gifted my books to people i know and they all have praised it. But i do not know how a book gets so famous that people start recognising the author etc. Pleasr suggest how can i be a famous author too.

congratulations on your poetry success - to really earn as an author you need to get a novel out in the mainstream rather than the self publishing / online or vanity press - it is hard but with time and effort by no means impossible. Good luck and never stop writing.

Congrats on publishing a chapbook. Go to poetry readings, promote yourself, make your work known in as many places as you can. My work is on Amazon and so far I am not hitting a gold plated button. I posted a poem here if you are curious.

You could try self-publishing it as an ebook through Amazon, but you'll have to work hard at promoting it. I haven't tried it yet, though I hope to one day, but some people have done really well that way.

if you go through web sites its a possibility that you could promote through other web sites do some research on the topic
