Last week I asked my mylot friends what did they serve for tea time when they had company. As it happened, my friend came with bread and a chocolate cake so all I did was to make an egg paste.
A mylotter suggested scones and the scones bug stayed in my head so I asked Google for the recipe. Today we tried it with Leticia. I got a cheese scones recipe and we did that in minutes.
We will change it a bit. The recipe asked for too much salt considering that grated cheese is salty. Maybe I will even omit the salt as I use salted butter for my bread.
Do you change the recipes that you read and follow? I do most of the time. I have to take special care of the salt in recipes as many of my friends have high blood pressure.

I love to read some of my old cooking books although some are very outdated

@LadyDuck I agree. But once I read one of my most beloved cook books for an octopus recipe and it started with "that hideous thing"
Now, would you eat something that the book called hideous?

@marguicha Even if they are outdated you can always find something interesting to prepare.

These scones have no sugar. They areno be eaten either alone, with a bit of butter or even with a thin slice of ham
