One-Legged Seagull on a Handicapped Parking Space Sign

One-Legged Seagull Perched on a Handicapped Parking Space Sign
United States
October 14, 2015 10:54am CST
Every morning I take my 88 year-old mom out for a ride. Today we noticed that the seagull sitting on the handicapped parking space sign, where we park at the Sandwich Marina, only had one leg. We thought this was quite the coincidence. He sat there the entire time staring back at us and showing off a bit! I did grab a picture of him.

You didn't ask him if he wanted a wheelchair?

@NeldaHoxie I guess you have something important to attend to- learning the seagull dialect.

How apt! That's the sort of thing that appeals to me and stays with me for quite some time.

He was gone yesterday, so I guess he's found a new sign

I've seen a few of them here In CA. There was a one-legged Canada goose asking us for bread the other day. We asked him how he lost the other, but got no reply.

I think seagulls live a very competitive life. They're always tussling over something.

Are you sure he only had one leg? He might have been faking it!

@NeldaHoxie Maybe he has great balance. Last time I got too near a seagull he pooped on me.

Now I am worried about the poor gull's other leg. although, birds do stand on one leg sometimes with the other tucked up underneath.

We could see his little stump, quite clearly. I live on the seacoast and spend lots of time looking at seagulls on one leg.

Maybe seagulls are smarter than we give them credit for.
