Do posts from MyLot get seen by the "general public"?

When I wrote for Epinions (a review site), the idea was to write posts that would be read by non-members. That's how we earned our income. Many of my guitar and stereo component reviews were read by literally thousands of people around the world, and earnings were good there.
With Bubblews, some of our posts got picked up by Google (in the early days), and many of my early posts would get hundreds of reads. I think we were supposed to share in the ad revenues generated by such reads, though it's difficult to tell if we actually did.
Do MyLot posts get read by "outsiders"? Or is the assumption here that we're writing only for the discussions/conversations that occur with fellow members?

What several of the people have already told anyone who is interested, Crazy, is, YEP! Outsiders sure can see everything we are doing on this site! (That is one way this site generates money to pay us for playing on here!)

"we wouldn't have known it, and they could have pocketed any benefits."
OMG! Either you are a babe in the woods when it comes to the number of hits we were getting from "outside" or you are/were in cahoots with those thieves on Bubbs! I was following some of the hits some of my articles were getting from outsiders (And my articles were not even some that would be expected to get very many hits!) after Bubbs blocked those hits from counting for us... One article received over a thousand hits! I credited it to my daughter's sweet job of promoting my writing on some of the sites she uses.
Now, let's see... someone got PAID for those hits! Was it YOU? It sure wasn't ME!1 person likes this

@TheHorse Huh? I thought the delete function still worked? I was told it did...
I left everything I have written up... My friend, Nameless, actually works for Bubbs as their moderator. I know she is the sole breadwinner for her family.
I know this will sound stupid of me, but... *DE shrugs his shoulders and continues, anyway.*
I don't want her to lose her income, so I left my articles up so there is some cash still trickling in... I know it is a lot more cash than those thieves tell everyone... I still check to see how many hits I am receiving from outsiders, and a few of my articles are actually doing decent there... (I hate funding the thieves, but Nameless had nothing to do with their scams! I can guarantee that!) I know that if my articles are still getting hits, so are the articles everyone else has over there, so they can still afford to pay her as long as she is willing to work for them...
Okay, you can make fun of me now... it won't change my mind, but you won't be the first, nor the last, I am sure!

Yeah, over at "that other site," I just figured that hiding our number of reads was a part of their overall coyote behavior. If we had a post that "went viral" via the search engines (not likely by that point), we wouldn't have known it, and they could have pocketed any benefits.

When we post online and if the host server where in this case is mylot which is accessible world wide then the readership will be as far reaching as other known sites. However, the readership will be dependable on other factors like credibility of the posts, writers and so on. So it does reach the general public, but we wouldn't be able to know what percentage of the general public.

@hereandthere That would be interesting. I have no idea (right now) whether anything I'm writing is viewed by anyone who is not a site member.

@TheHorse Hey, Mr. pony, I can add to your knowledge by a smidge... When my posts are long ones, I make less when people respond than I do when I only write three or four lines.

A search on the Net is all that is needed for anyone to read our posts.

I would think that those that tag their posts would show up eventually in search engines, but I've not tested whether something can be read without joining first. When I first came by, my intention was to first read a few folks discussions but it seemed to me I had to join just to do that, but I didn't take time to make sure that was the case back then.
Even those posts linked on facebook would need to be read before getting comments on the facebook page I would think, so I don't see the difference there just yet.
