We went out for an early dinner

When we retired in 2001 we decided we could eat meals at whatever time we wanted. And so we do! We got into the habit of eating lunch by 11:00 am and dinner around 3:00-3:00. But, there are always exceptions and today was one of them.
My husband said he was 'starving' and wanted to go earlier than usual. So we did and one good thing, the restaurants are usually quiet at that hour. We went to a local place called Uncle Gus's - it's a BBQ restaurant and they only service one thing, Rib Eye Steak, that isn't smoked, so that's what I always get. My husband had a smoked Prime Rib Sandwich and beans, he loves their beans...he's a baked beans fanatic!
Now we are home and I don't have any dishes to clean up, so my time is my own.

We stay pretty much on a traditional schedule. We're not retired, so we do have to deal with clients and bosses, but it also lets us blend better with the people around us. I miss hearing about the Blueberry Pig.

You remember the Pig....well, it went downhill so bad the last time we were there I got a raw grilled chicken sandwich. Of course they fixed it, but still..it was a big turnoff. The owner is never there and the employees don't do much and food quality went down the tubes.

@NeldaHoxie I think it should close, they have no business we keep waiting to see the out of business sign.

@AbbyGreenhill Oh, what a sad turn of events. That sandwich sounds really gross. I wonder what the owner is thinking.

we often eat early or late, mainly because we both hate crowds, and don't take this personal parents of small children, but hate listening to kids be out of control or scream through meals. If we wanted that we'd sit in McD's mcplay area.

Since I never had kids I surely don't want to hear kids screaming.

We go once a week, we live in the country and there aren't many places close. Yes, being retired is great and we retired when I was 53 so it's been a while!

Wow, I eat lunch about 2-3 and sometimes I skip it. We usually eat dinner between 5 or 7. We are also retired and just moved to this area and there are so many restaurants near by. A lot of places have happy hour until 7 so then we make sure we are there earlier.

We don't miss many meals! When I worked I never ate lunch and we ate dinner about 5:30. I'm usually up at 5:30 am so our day starts early. We live in the boonies so not a lot of places even within 45 mins.

That is what's nice when you won your time . Unlike when you are at work , where there is time to eat , so you have to eat already even if you are not that hungry yet .
