I got politely cranky with the band teacher

So I was checking Cary's grades. The band teacher finally had everything input through last Friday. And there's another darn missing writing assignment.
"Cary"...
Cary doesn't know anything about a writing assignment, didn't see the other kids turn one in, doesn't have anything in his backpack.
Now I had written the band teacher and told him that Cary has autism and that 1) he needs to make sure that Cary understands assignments by repeating them back and that 2) Cary will need help with writing assignments.
So last night I reiterated that, and asked him if I had to go through the special education department to make that happen. I also wrote to the special education department.
It's quite possible that Cary lost the assignment or blew it off, but if he was getting help with writing assignments, somebody should have noticed that he didn't have it or didn't do it long before it got into the gradebook.
Ugh...

Never having gone through what you are it seems they would be helping Cary more also.
I'm sure this isn't the first time and know these things can happen so i hope it gets straightened out soon for you

Key words here: "band teacher." I actually asked on another site if every school band teacher was a dictatorial jerk, or did I just "luck" into two bad ones? The general consensus, from the replies I got, was that band teachers are jerks.
And I thought music was supposed to soothe the savage beast.....

It seems like education pros are the same all over california our son was a gifted child but he was bored silly in an ordinary class as hei read three to fo ur grades ahead so they started on the attentioon deficit but the psychologist said he did not have that he just was too
far ahead and needed to be in the gifted child program onc there he really aced everything. these people in education at the schools really do not listen to you.

I just wonder why the general ed teachers don't know right off the bat when a kid's in special ed. They need help from day 1, not two months in.
