Hello Friends :) Actually this fruit called Sitafal here in our country. I didn't know the English name so I tried to search it on Google and I found these two names, Custard Apple and Sugar Apple. Lol, names sounds like they must contain the fat... lol.. not sure. If any one is having doubt then I am attaching photo of fruit. I just want to know that is this fruit contains any fat and calorie. I mean can we eat as other fruit like apple in diet. Hope so, as I like this one. I know we can't eat banana and mangoes more as they contains fat as far as I have heard. So is this fruit also fall in categories of banana and mango?

I know one thing for sure, I love this fruit 2 down sides. One is that if you are prone to common cold (I think they call it flu), this can make you more prone to catching it as its base is colder, in hindi, I wold say, thandi taseer. The second downside is there is always very little of eatable inside this. Never mind, I still love it. And for the benefits - From the article I quote below a few lines - anti-oxidants like Vitamin C, which helps to fight free radicals in our body. It is also high in potassium and magnesium that protects our heart from cardiac disease. Now as it has something to protect from Caridac Ailments, definitely, it should not have high fat or cholesterol building stuff in it.
Custard apple is one fruit that packs in all health benefits. It has in it Vitamin C, magnesium and even copper, which helps in relieving joint pain and indigestion

Thanks for the great article bro. Even I love the fruit. About first downside, since long time I am safe from my cold side, So I guess it will be okay. And you are very true about second one. There is very little inside to eat. And it is not that easy to eat. I mean just put in mouth like apple.. Well, Good to hear that it is having good sides for health side. Good to hear that, now I am going for it.

@akp100 Great that you do not have the cold thing. I dont know how it would work out for me as I have arthritis, but then, who cares, as long as the fruit is so delicious. I also know that there are many more health benefits - and as it helps building immune system, who knows, that immune system may work out good for my Arthritis too

@thesids .. That's really good bro. I don't know more related to that. But if it is good for health in any way, then we should go for it. Plus it taste lot better than many other fruits.

We cannot compare such way, or just say I don't. Sitafal is good, but I have Milkshake every day with either Banana or Mango; sometimes Chikoo too. But never used Sitafal for shakes. And Sitafal is South Indian fruit which costs a blast in North, so we buy it occasionally.

Here it is quite cheap.. I am from Gujarat, and price is okay just like apple and bananas. I have drink sitafal milkshake few times, and it is really delicious. But mostly I avoid milkshakes as it contains lot more calorie. So better to go for fresh fruits to have good diet for me.

It is an excellent fruit and since the seeds are large and you get to eat very little pulp I am sure it has very few calories.I have a tree in my house and when in season we are flooded with the fruits..

@akp100 I have always loved it since my childhood...There is another variety called Ramphal which is orange in color ( the outer skin) and has far less number of seeds, tastes similar ..

@kiran8 ... Ramphal!!! Never heard about it so far. If taste is same then it is more good choice as you mentioned that seeds are less in it. I would love to have it any time. You can upload picture of it if you have any. Thanks for the information.

That's really cool that you are having tree of this delicious fruit. I would love to have one too. Yes we have very less to eat inside the fruit because of those seeds. But still I love it.

Actually I think potato and rice contain more sugar in the form of carbohydrates than bananas. That is why diabetic patients have to cut down on carbohydrates, because once digested, the carbohydrates become sugar.
