We Either Have Drought or Mudslides Here In Southern California

For the past four years, we have experienced a horrible drought here in Southern California. Everything is dry as a bone and there have been a number of wildfires.
Today, at last, we got some rain. In most places, we only got a couple of drops. However, a few locations received two to four inches of rain. Those places ended up with mudslides and floods. Interstate 5, the major highway between northern and southern California, was covered in mud and had to be closed. Other highways were closed, too.
It seems as if it is feast or famine here in California.
I hope we get more rain this winter, but we really don't need more mudslides or floods. I guess we have to be happy with whatever comes, though, because we desperately need water.
I've included a photo I took of a California hillside near where I live.
How's the weather where you live?

gorgeous view, ms. d-d! i told'ja to be wary 'f wishin' fer rain, hon. i'd feared that it'd come to quickly'n cause such
that's the same storm that hit here last weekend 'n's headed back this direction tomorrow i believe? (um, ne'er mind, it's already tomorrow, lol) we got a lil o'er 5" in 24hrs last weekend. thankfully we've been blessed with rain since spring 'n i've left all grasses high (to the neighbors 'n folks drivin' by's disgust) to help prevent the run-off 'n erosion others in these parts're havin'. 'course, i live out in the country 'n aint gotta abide by no 'rules', so've the liberty to do such.
i watched the national news tonight (
i know) 'n they're predictin' lots'f rain fer y'all, texas 'n some other places whilst goin' north up the coastline seems to be in the path'f drought. its gonna be a hard winter i'm thinkin'. floods, mudslides, lack'f snow where needed. seems this el nino that took its time comin' is movin' in with great fury.
stay safe, my friend! i'll keep ya all in my heart.

Yes, it does look like the rains have started. As long as the hill I live on holds, I welcome it!

Oh, my! I didn't realize that the flooding in Italy had caused any deaths. I'm sorry to hear that.
