What happened when I tried to use sat-nav

In the summer we were staying at my parents’ house, where I grew up, and planned a day out at a stately home about 12 miles away. I had never been there before, although I have driven past it quite a few times; I had an idea of where it was, I just wasn’t quite sure which road I should take after passing through town (the local town I have been to hundreds of times). My partner thought he could solve this problem by using his phone, which incorporates sat-nav, so he set it up and stuck it on the dashboard. I started getting irritated straight away when it told me how to turn out of the driveway, and when we reached a junction after about a mile and it ordered me to turn left towards town I just shouted ‘Oh F off!’ My partner quietly took it away again.
