What happened when I tried to use sat-nav

In the summer we were staying at my parents’ house, where I grew up, and planned a day out at a stately home about 12 miles away. I had never been there before, although I have driven past it quite a few times; I had an idea of where it was, I just wasn’t quite sure which road I should take after passing through town (the local town I have been to hundreds of times). My partner thought he could solve this problem by using his phone, which incorporates sat-nav, so he set it up and stuck it on the dashboard.
I started getting irritated straight away when it told me how to turn out of the driveway, and when we reached a junction after about a mile and it ordered me to turn left towards town I just shouted ‘Oh F off!’ My partner quietly took it away again. I don’t think he’ll offer to use it again. We found it without any problem.

I've had lifts to my house off people who would rather take directions from their sat-nav than me - it is annoying and insulting.

@Fleura I find the voice of a sat-nav usually bugs me after a while

Such things are great when they work correctly...which is not always the case as you say here.
