I just re-read a book called ”Ten thousand sorrows”. The book was written by Elizabeth Kim who was born in Korea and grew up in the US. When Elizabeth was a small child her mother was murdered by Elizabeth's grandfather and her uncle. They killed her because she dated an American soldier and became pregnant. It was a murder of honor. Elizabeth watched the murder.
When her mother was killed Elizabeth was placed in an orphanage and later she was adopted by an American couple. Her new parents were very strict and they made her work very hard. When Elizabeth was 17 she was married to a man that her parents had chosen. Her husband was violent and he often hit her and harassed her. He also cheated on her several times. After some time Elizsabeth left her husband and started a new life with her daughter.
I liked the book a lot. It was really sad to read the details about the day that Elizabeth's mother was murdered by her own family members and when Elizabeth moved to the US her struggles continued. She has had a hard life with many sorrows, but she survived and her story is both very sad and very touching.
Do you like to read autobiographies or books about real people and events? Which interesting books from this genre have you read?

I think that it is a great book. I have read it twice. It is a sad story, but interesting at the same time.
