What Are Your MyLot Tips?

I have only been on MyLot for a few days, so I am still learning things every day. I wonder if people who have been here longer than me have any tips for me?
For example, just now I went through my list of followers and started following back the few people that I was not already following. I had no problem following the first four or five. Then, I would click on the word follow and nothing happened.
Are we limited on how many people we can follow in a day or within an hour, or something like that?
After a couple of days, I also learned that I could click on discussions under someone's name to learn what discussions they had started. Then I could pick one I wanted to read.
I have also started to learn how to use private messaging when people have left me a message, but I haven't started one with someone else. I guess I need to experiment with how that works.
Are there any tips or tricks that I need to know? I'd love to learn how to be a good member of this site.
I am really enjoying writing on MyLot and love logging on a couple of times a day to see what everyone is up to!
I've included a picture of my daughter's cat, cuddled up by my laptop!

Yes, I am doing the same thing ... trying to move around and read as many posts as I can and leave comments.

When we start we all fall into the "I have to follow everyone so they will follow me' trap. Just do your own thing, read/comment/like and be part of the community. Also, remember, this isn't real life, so don't let it take over your life.

@DeborahDiane And you know that many people do. That's their choice, but not mine. I enjoy my real life and outside and taking rides, etc.

@AbbyGreenhill - I agree. I mainly do this when I am watching television, anyway.

Ha Ha! This is probably the best tip of all! We can't let this site, or any site, take over our lives!

Cute cat
the only I'd add to all the good advice is under people, on the right you can press discussion to see just everyones discussions.

Yes, I have been happy that people left so many useful tips. They make it possible for other people to learn how to do things, too.

@DeborahDiane My favorite one was how to stop someone from piling on a huge number of their own posts as suggestions. Sheesh. Good info to know.

I think it is trial and error here. I like to go to the person's site whose articles I want to read and hit their discussions button otherwise you end up reading a lot of comments they made on others posts. Now having said that I have found some interesting posts that way by accident. lol

I think you are right about it being a glitch. I was able to follow everyone after all!

Be sure to spread yourself around. Read, read, read and comment and discuss.

This is a good tip, too. I will try to spend at least half an hour every evening reading and commenting on other posts.

The cat seems to be enjoying the warmth of the laptop!
I'm not sure about tricks, but one tip is not to worry too much about the number of followers and those you follow. Just enjoy interacting with everyone.

@DeborahDiane I am still finding my way around. The way I figure it you will do just fine as long as you interact and keep on writing.

I don't have any tips other than I check for discussions by searching Twitter.

I'm so glad you asked this question, as I was curious myself (only joined yesterday!) I admit I'm following just about anyone I come in contact with right now on MyLot lol, but I feel like it's a necessary step to get yourself involved in the community, along with original posts and replies!
