What are the ingredients that you use while making chocolates at home. I have tried making them using cocoa but not cooking chocolates. Do you use cocoa butter. I combed the entire Net but could not find any

i've always though you just melt the chocolate then form it to what you want.. then done you can add peanuts and other stuff too

The other stuff is more than peanuts. There is butter, sugar, and even rum plus the nuts. I do not like the idea of using chocolates to make chocolates.

My niece sent me a recipe. I did not get that shine. And someone said I should use liquid paraffin.

You cannot make chocolate at home, the process of making chocolate is not easy. You will get nothing good mixing cocoa sugar and milk at home.

I have been to a factory in Germany and know how complicated it is. But I have also tasted home made chocolates. They are not bad at all . I know the process. You have to use a double boiler and stuff but I cannot get all the ingredients here. There are other ingredients than just cocoa , sugar and milk.

@allknowing First of all, you should use "cocoa paste" not powdered cocoa, then you need cocoa butter and sugar. The three ingredients must be continuously stirred at a temperature of about 80 degrees Celsius. The more you continue this process the best the chocolate will be. If you do not have all those ingredients, to make home chocolate use a good dark chocolate and add the ingredients that you like.

@LadyDuck Thanks. I have made chocolates at home but could not find cocoa butter which gives the chocolates a smooth finish. I know the process.

I use the chocolate wafers to make my chocolate, its great for making almond bark or for little solid milk chocolate pieces, it also does well if you're looking to dip things, such as marshmallows in it.

I have made dips with fresh figes grown in my garden which have a great taste. Chocolate dips could be great too but then again I would like to make that with cocoa and not any finished chocolate product.

@allknowing I think that you will have your work cut out for you doing it completely from scratch, I've never found any recipe on this, which is how I decided to give the wafers a try. They really are not much different then using chocolate chips, which we all use when baking chocolate chip cookies. Good luck in your search.

Most homemade chocolates I know of involve using commercially produced cooking chocolate

My niece has given me a recipe using cocoa powder. I have done it several times but just could not find cocoa butter. Also my chocolates did not have the shine. Someone on the Net suggested that I use liquid paraffin - the edible one.
