If you are not yet a senior citizen then how old are you? The other day, there is a celebration happened near in our house about the celebration of being a senior citizen.I'm wondering if some senior citizen in other countries are still engaging to many activities or program like this. They go to the church first for a mass, then conduct their parade after.all senior citizen in every barangay were all acknowledged for their arrival in the said event. They have many contest like singing, dancing most are from 70' 80's,90's songs. They have a mass dancing,Every barrangay must have to present a presentation. They also dance latest songs most are pop songs. At the end of the event,Our barrangay won in a third place.

I am a senior citizen, at 67. This event, however, would make my skin crawl.

@cgalavia Our age group invented the computer and the Internet. It surprises me when younger people are surprised about us using it.

I am definitely a senior citizen! :) But I don't get involved in things like that. I have enough to do without doing things like that.

@peavey For sure you find joy for whatever makes you a lot of doings. Here in my country when one reach a senior citizen, most of them are just simply staying at home, doing their leisure things.

@cgalavia I am at home much of the time but I still work (online). I would be bored out of my mind if I didn't do something. There's no need to quit living because one gets older.

@peavey I like that idea of yours,"no need to quit living" because if one quits nothing will happen.Good job to you,yo're doing well despite of your age.I can say now that younger people is not the only one who is active in the online industry but also the senior citizen as well..

Congratulations on your win. In our country, we don't have such celebrations other than special wedding anniversary, auspicious birthday and Chinese festivities. The way I see it, these celebrations are more of a family gathering of sorts. However, these celebrations are sometimes neglected since children will be working elsewhere faraway and coming back would be inconvenient. So, it will be held back till the big festivities like the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) and Mid-Autumn Festival (Mooncake Festival) where the mandatory family reunion will take place.

@cgalavia I think you need to understand that the average working class are working in cities faraway from their homes. It is considerably quite expensive to travel by the fastest mode of transportation and time consuming to travel the most economical mode of transportation, Also, there is the terms from various workplace where there is literally very little chance of using it for such celebrations. Most of the time workers and business owners will simply accumulate it for the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) holidays so that they can have a longer break to be with their families and children. We do know and would like to be with our old folks including children as much as we can however there are many areas to consider which more often than not discourages us from deciding favorably. I hope that you will understand our plights and cherish your happy times.

@artemeis Why not have? You have so much of celebration to take and for sure it is really fun to participate in such celebration like that where every member of the family especially the grown children oblige to go home and and actively engage in festivities. However,Here in my country we always acknowledge and give value and importance those who are already a senior citizen. In this way they become entertained and enjoy for once in a while at their age.

@artemeis Oh dear even if you won't tell me,I will surely understand the fact that we do have a different culture,of course lots of differences and I respect it as much as I have respect our practices here. Yes,I understand that the fastest mode of transportation is really expensive,I won't even bother going home if not something really important but like an event of Spring Festival or a Chinese New year,is really something an important occasion to share with a family and elders.

My mother-in-law always attends their senior citizen activities . Though she can't attend sometimes because no one will be with father-in-law at home when hubby has his own business to attend to while i am at the office .

@SIMPLYD We have something in common and that is living in a big house of our in-laws.They said why have to look for other house when this house is too big for us.Living with in laws is very common here in our country unlike on the other countries when they reach at the age of 18,they'll have to live on their own.
