Designing a Washcloth

I had a washcloth design in mind for quite awhile and I finally made a chart on graph paper for it. It took quite awhile to figure which stitches to use and where. It was really difficult to figure out how to have the design to look like a quilt block pattern called The Card Trick.
Last night, I started knitting the washcloth that I designed and it has been pretty tedious on which stitches to knit, which stitches to purl, and write it all down row by row.
Has anyone else here ventured into designing handcrafted items?
The photo shows the start of the washcloth. I took the photo with my Samsung Galaxy phone.

What I am doing is coming up with some designs that are based on quilt block patterns so that I can sell patterns. I'm going to try to keep most of them as easy as possible and throw in a few that are more difficult. I have 3 other designs done and I hope I can do a few more before I sell any.

@bluerubymoon53 That's a great idea and I can see where it would give you almost limitless inspiration. I have followed washcloth designs with pictures in them and really enjoyed them.

@peavey The vast amount of quilt block designs that are available is awesome. I just have to be particular about the ones to choose for designs in a different medium ( or textile being yarn) and technique (knitting).

Thank you.
You ought to try a few simple designs sometime. I'm not sure that I will ever try to design anything like shawls or sweaters. I do sometimes make a few simple changes here and there on a few patterns I use. It it still not my own, though. It is just a bit of a variation of the original design.

@LadyDuck There's no harm in at least trying. The easier pattern to change a little bit, the better to start with and not one that is complicated.
