My sister in law will have a lot on her hands once the school holidays start tomorrow. She finds it easier looking after her one year old daughter and three week old daughter while her four year old son is at school, but now they are all going to be home at she will have to deal with her newborn as well as the kids at the same time. It is going to be a busy few weeks for her and I am sure she will find it tough! At least my mother is at hand if she needs help. Shame I can't help as I will be at work. Do you find it hard keeping all kids entertained during the holidays?

@BACONSTRIPSXXX I know it is worrying actually. But I hope having my mother at hand will help.

I know in California the summer break is way tooooo long, 10 weeks but I know why, it's too hot to be in school with temperatures into the 100'sF.

My kids are older and they do there own thing these days. I know it was hard trying to keep doing things, something different. Busy week ahead for the ones in the UK and half term next week. They don't have time off school in the USA until thanks giving, late November. I hope you sister-in-law isn't too busy next week.

I homeschool and the kids are home 24/7. There is no break from them. Sometimes I wish I could send them to school but it's just a harmful environment. I remind them of their responsibilities, as well as mine. It is not my job to entertain them all the time. Obviously I plan some activities, but when it's free time, they have to entertain themselves.

Nope, I always loved school breaks. It meant I had no schedule to follow. I did not have to set an alarm and wake up at a certain time. I did not have to be home for a school bus. I could nap in the afternoon with the kids. Things just seemed easier. Now that I'm working it doesn't matter much to me whether the kids have school or not. Wish I had has many vacations from work as the kids have from school.

Looking after babies and children is a job that looks simple but is actually very tiring job. I also experienced it when my eldest daughter who is now in a elementary school got a holiday. She was always fighting with her sister for things real simple, but it was enough to make me tired. I strongly agree that holidays for kids is busy days for mothers

it would be a messy kid's holiday for sure.. but kids are angels they are stress relievers, i love kids around but hate it when they disarrange the house and fight .. but i still love 'em.

Luckily my kids are all grown so school holidays affect me not at all.

I really don't think it's hard to take care of my kids. You just have to adjust and make the most of the day. Like if you want to watch your favorite program, you just let them watch the cartoons all day long and make them their favorite spaghetti and chicken that's about it.
