We made a really cool savings jar today! Use a glue stick and tape cut out images on a jar, spray paint, the remove the images with tweezers.. Now as the kids save they can see the money pile up in the silhouette.

That is such an excellent idea and I think it's important to teach your kids to save

Definitely. If they can't save properly then they will struggle as adults

@Samanthavv You've got that one right. I feel like you are teaching them the value of money and this is so important and a lot more people should follow your example.

@poehere I am fortunate in that my grandfather raised me and I inherited his good financial sense. I cannot say the same for my siblings,

I read about someone doing that once to save for their child's college education. It worked. Are you saving for something special?

Yes! We are moving back to Alaska. We moved to Minnesota a year ago and we are all homesick and miserable.

@just4him if you ever make it up there look me up! I lived there my entire life and leaving was the biggest mistake I ever made. I'm miserable here.

@Samanthavv Now that's a good cause. I've never been to Alaska, but that is one place I long to visit if not move there. I hope the jar fills fast for you.

That's really cool. Teaching your kids to save is a good thing. We have piggy banks for each of our kids, and we'll sometimes give them change to put in them. So they can save.

The kids really want to participate in saving to go back to Alaska and I figured this was a good way to help them visualize their efforts

I asked my nephews and niece to save money on a bamboo and whoever have the most saved money will win and I will double their money. :)

That's pretty good incentive, I have four kids and they tend to be competitive like that!

Teaching kids to save is the best thing you can do for them.

Absolutely. It's people who can't save who have serious problems later in life. Even my siblings... They act as though any money will burn a hole in their pockets.

I had fun making it and it was pretty easy. I made it all from stuff around the house.
